It may not look like much now...
FibroShark Hungry illustration officially 50% complete!
I managed to actually get some work done last week, which means that all comic panels have their background washes & frames masked out, & everything is at least in the preliminary sketching phase. I also completed the "Motherfucking Swordcane" comic with the glee of an Igor anticipating a thunderstorm in far Uberwalt.

This also coincides with the possibility of me actually being able to trade art for a sword, so it's kind of perfect.

I'm not entirely sure I did anything else last week...
I did get really excited about Pride this past weekend, especially in light of the recent SCOTUS decision that made marriage equality the law of the land. I really wanted to add the rainbow filter to the FibroShark & Setzer Studio Arts facebook pages, but the internet wouldn't let me for some reason, so I guess I just have to cheer for it here! Hooray! Marriage Equality achieved... sort of...

Granted, there's a lot more work to do, but at least my older sister's marriage is now federally recognized & she & her wife don't lose their rights arbitrarily by crossing state borders. It's kind of a big deal. Frankly, I don't know which emotion is winning in me: being excited for my country, or all the compersion* I have for all the people I know who are married to persons on the same end of the gender spectrum as they.

Well, I did, but it's really more "procraftinating"...
This happened...
AND I AM NOT ASHAMED!

New meds actually contributing to productivity!
I started on a new medication for my fibromyalgia last week, & I'm really excited about the preliminary results. That is to say, I don't hurt as much, have been sleeping incredibly well (*knocks on wood*), & that means that everything else is working too. I did have a bit of a flare last week, but the recovery was swift! My brain seems to be retaining its creative drive as well, which is even more important than actually being able to do things.

If this keeps up, & I am pretty optimistic (altho that might be the caffeine), I will have the book done in no time, & be starting on a few new projects in the near future.

A few words on the death of Chris Squire
I'm a second-generation Yes fan. I grew up listening to Yes. My mom & I followed the band down & back up the West Coast on the YesSymphonic Tour in 2001. It was always a great experience to see the band live, especially because there was always some way to get to talk to the guys. This band is like family to me, so Chris' death is a personal blow.

I was 12 the first time I met Chris Squire. At the time I was still choosing which route I would take artistically, & learning to play bass was part of that exploration. He grinned when I asked him to sign my teach-yourself-bass book, & I still have it even tho that stage of my life lasted all of 5 minutes.

Many years & tours have gone by since then, but I always remember looking up to that giant. Now, I assume he & my dad (who also played bass), are getting the chance to hang out & jam in the afterlife, altho I'm sure there's a bit of a queue. And quite a lot of chicken vindaloo...
